THE EASTER TRIDUUM.....
Holy Saturday March 30th. On Holy Saturday the Church waits at the Lord’s tomb in prayer and fasting, meditating on his Passion and Death and on his descent into Hell, and awaiting his Resurrection. 8pm - The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night.
Principal Celebrant, His Grace, Archbishop Bernard Longley.
The greatest and most noble of all Solemnities. We begin outside of the Crypt with the Blessing of the Fire & Preparation of the Paschal Candle. We process to the Cathedral with lighted Candles for the Easter Proclamation (Exsultet). In the Liturgy of the Word, Holy Church meditates on the wonders the Lord God has done for his people from the beginning. In the Baptismal Liturgy we welcome new members into the Church; and with the Renewal of our Baptismal Promises the Church is called to the table the Lord has prepared for his people, the memorial of his Death and Resurrection until he comes again. |
