St Chad’s Cathedral is now bathed in a warm, red glow and will be until this coming Friday as part of the national #RedWednesday campaign. The lights are linked to the street lights and turn off when daylight is detected in this case about 7.15am.
The cathedral, along with many other landmarks and places of worship, is floodlit red to stand up for faith and freedom.
#RedWednesday takes place on Wednesday 22 November, but St Chad’s will be lit up for a week to mark the occasion.
The event is organised by Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), with support from Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), and it is also inviting people to wear an item of red clothing on the day.
St Chad’s is bathed in red from Friday 17 November for a week.
