The Assistant Director of Music is Nigel Morris MA ABSM LTCL. He was born in Stoke-on-Trent, where he received his early musical training before being awarded a Junior Exhibitioner Scholarship at the Royal Manchester College of Music. There, he studied organ, piano, viola and voice.
After A-levels, studies continued at the Birmingham School of Music under the distinguished organist and scholar, George Miles. Whilst there, Nigel was the first Organ Scholar at St Chad’s, during John Harper’s tenure as Director of Music On graduation, Nigel pursued a career with Staffordshire Police Force for nineteen years after which he returned to Birmingham for postgraduate study with David Saint and Marcus Huxley.. Other posts he has held include St Mary’s Stafford and Stoke Parish Church. He is currently a member of the IAO Council, Chair of the Assistant Cathedral Organists’ Association and President of the Birmingham Organists’ Association.
